Google Optimize was an A/B testing and personalisation tool from Google built on Google Analytics. Google shut it down in September 2023; the websites here still carry its container snippet or anti-flicker code.
The sites that installed Google Optimize were marketing-driven businesses testing without an enterprise platform: e-commerce stores, SaaS companies, publishers and lead-generation sites. A snippet still in place means nobody has cleaned up the analytics setup, usually a small team or a lapsed agency relationship. They once cared enough about conversion to test and probably still do.
That is exactly who A/B testing and personalisation vendors want to reach, since every former Optimize user had to pick a replacement or stop testing. The list also serves CRO agencies, analytics consultants who migrate tag setups, consent and tag-management tools, and landing page platforms with built-in testing. The dropped list is particularly useful here: a site that has removed the snippet has recently reviewed its tags and most likely chosen a new testing tool.
Google Optimize runs on 31,688 websites, which is 7.2% of all A/B Testing detections we record. Websites optimised with Google Optimize are most often served from United States (10,348), Canada (2,767) and Germany (1,583), and .com, .cc and .org are the most common domain endings.

The page loads optimize.js from googleoptimize.com with an OPT- or GTM- container id, often together with the anti-flicker snippet that adds an async-hide class to the html element for a few seconds. Some sites include it through Google Tag Manager or the gtag configuration. Our crawler matches these script references and the anti-flicker code on the homepage.
Why sell to websites with a discontinued tool?
Because the tool is gone but the need remains. Every site in the list ran experiments or personalisation before the shutdown and either moved to a paid alternative or stopped testing.
