About BetaScan

BetaScan finds the technologies behind websites and turns them into lists you can work with: every website running a given CMS, shop platform, marketing tool, chat widget or payment provider, refreshed daily, with the contact and domain data of each site.

What we do

Our crawler visits the homepage of every registered domain we know of. The page source and the response headers are matched against thousands of technology signatures, so a website that runs Shopify, HubSpot or Tidio shows up in the list of that technology the day after the visit. Because the crawl repeats, we also see when a site starts or stops using a technology, which makes the lists of new and dropped sites possible.

Built on NetAPI

BetaScan is the sister service of NetAPI, our domain-data platform. NetAPI follows domain registrations across hundreds of top-level domains, resolves their DNS and hosting, collects the public contact details published on the websites and keeps the popularity ranks and registration dates up to date. Its crawler (NetAPI bot) is the one that fetches the homepages BetaScan scans. The two services share the infrastructure but have separate accounts and plans: NetAPI sells domain data, BetaScan sells websites by technology.

Sales teams of software vendors and agencies use the lists to find companies that already run a complementary product, or that have just switched platforms and are deciding on their new stack.
