Recharge

Recharge is a subscription management service for online stores, mainly on Shopify: subscribe-and-save options, recurring billing and customer portals.

Stores running Recharge sell consumables such as coffee, supplements, pet food, skincare and subscription boxes, from small direct-to-consumer brands to large consumer companies on Shopify Plus, mostly in English-speaking markets. Using Recharge means recurring revenue, a retention focus and a paid app stack, and such merchants spend more on email, SMS, reviews and loyalty than one-off sellers.

The list serves vendors of the direct-to-consumer stack: email and SMS marketing, loyalty and referral programmes, review platforms, customer support tools, fulfilment and 3PL services, packaging suppliers, payment processors and agencies that specialise in subscription brands. Investors and aggregators also track subscription merchants. A new Recharge store has just launched a subscription offer and is building the retention tools around it; a store that dropped Recharge has either moved to a competing subscription app or stopped selling subscriptions, both meaningful signals for sellers in this niche.
